Throughout my years as a web developer, I have encountered various technologies that have offered different levels of learning curves, stability, and maintainability. Some have also claimed to be the next big thing. Later on, another promising framework emerges that will (hopefully) save you a lot of work and make development faster, easier, and more efficient.

While some technologies offer more than others, no single technology provides everything that can make a web developer’s life easier. There will still be head-scratching and nights of near sleeplessness while trying to meet clients’ demands, which can sometimes be more complex than one could anticipate.

For those who have never been in our shoes, most people likely assume at times that we can be like Superman, capable of almost anything. But the truth is, more often than not, we still face the “kryptonite” requirements of every demand.

Seeking answers to questions that require concrete responses, as we need to have things ready ASAP for the upcoming client demo, whether it’s later or first thing in the morning. Sipping on the last drop of coffee we could brew to stay awake, we sometimes wonder why life has been so cruel to us.

It’s a tough life, yeah, but it becomes even more complicated if the paychecks stop coming in. What choice do we have? But, of course, we are the problem solvers. We are expected to execute and likely the ones who will turn your visions into reality.

There will always be the dilemma of a steep learning curve lurking in every corner of whatever new technology has to offer. And those client requirements that can’t be solved right off the bat.

And no matter how many programming languages are invented, all the problems we encounter boil down to being collections of letters and numbers at the end of the day.
